Currently, I am working as the deputy director for professional affairs and the research specialist and manager of the regional centre for vocational and technical education under the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO VOCTECH) located in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam. I am seconded from State University of Malang, Indonesia.
I have been working at SEAMEO VOCTECH Regional Centre since 2005. SEAMEO VOCTECH was established in 1990, while SEAMEO was founded in 1965 by the Ministers of Education of the member countries to enhance the quality of education and to have a better understanding of culture of the member counties. Currently, there are eleven active member countries: Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor Leste and Vietnam.
My roles in this Centre are to plan, implement, and monitor capacity building programmes, research activities, and information sharing. The capacity building programmes are designed for teachers, instructors, lecturers, administrators, and policymakers of the eleven SEAMEO member countries. For research and information sharing, assisted by other managers, specialists and officers I plan and conduct research activities, organize regional and international meetings, forums, seminars, and conferences, and produce publications in the area of vocational and technical education and training.
I have been working also as an adjunct lecturer and full lecturer since 1987 at the State University of Malang, Indonesia teaching various courses related to technical, vocational and engineering education. Previously, I was a teacher in several universities in the United States, such as at Cornell University, University of Wisconsin-Madison, and University of Washington-Seattle. In addition, I had a productive period conducting funded research while I was completing my doctoral degree at Pennsylvania State University and master's degree at the University of Wisconsin Madison.
My goal is to continue working as an educator and a researcher either at a university or an educational organisation.
